"My father’s father sexually abused me. I didn't have memories of this until I was in my....

MCRCC is an organization, but it is composed of a group of individuals who are passionate about the mission and have dedicated their professional lives to this work. Some of us have our own experiences with sexual violence and identify as survivors; some of us do not. All of us are horrified by the events preceding the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court Justice; namely the victim blaming, shaming, mocking, and disbelief of Dr. Blasey Ford.

Here at MCRCC, we are aware of the many and varied reasons why survivors do not tell anyone, not even loved ones, about their....

The Kavanaugh confirmation hearing last week was every bit as electrifying as Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearing 27 years ago. Anita Hill was credible in the 1990’s, however, Justice Thomas’ portrayed himself as the one wronged in her disclosure of sexual harassment and he was confirmed by the Senate Judiciary Committee and the full Senate. We watched another man nominated to the Court describe himself as a victim of mistaken identity and politically motivated slander for a new generation at Thursday’s committee hearing.

This time none of the Senate Judiciary Committee members....

I remember being transfixed by the televised Senate Judiciary Committee Confirmation hearings of Justice Clarence Thomas. I also remember being appalled by the insensitive questions directed towards Anita Hill and thinking how brave she was, how composed and how credible. We later learned that other women came forward with similar stories during those hearings but were denied the opportunity to testify and lend further credibility to her story. Subsequently, Judge Thomas was confirmed. For life.

For the past 15 years during Monterey's Car Week & Concours d'Elegance, MCRCC has benefitted from proceeds and the silent auction at the Automobilia Monterey expo. This year, the 16th Annual International Expo will take place at the Embassy Suites in Seaside on August 21 and 22, 2018, from 10am-6pm.
